Relationship profile 3
Mojo is a music magazine that appeals to an average target audience of age 37, so a lot older than Kerrang! readers or Q readers, who have a younger target audience.
The appearance of Mojo looks older, targeting the older age range, featuring older bands and black and white photos. This looks appealing to people who are interested in older bands or were interested in bands when they were younger, so buy the magazine. 66% of the readers are from an ABC1 profile, so are upper class, as are the readers of Q whereas Kerrang! may have a lot of student readers or unemployed readers as well as a mixed group of people buying the magazine. The magazine also appears to look more appealing to the male audience, due to the range of colours and the way its laid out, it looks masculine.
Some features you may find advertised in a Mojo magazine:
Records/CDs appealing to the elder generation of people, who may want to listen to or collect old CD or tapes of older artists, whose songs were never published onto modern technology. This is appealing to older people.
Vintage Products (such as cars) Older generation who may be into old vintage cars or other old products. May be looking for an old car to own or to try out, or anything that will remind them of when they were younger. This will be appealing for them.
Men's care products the products advertised will appeal to working men with families or who own a house, so this will mean that products for themselves will look appealing when reading the magazine
Family car As the average age range is 37 the owner will most likely have a family so will need a car to use for practical use. By advertising in the magazine they will see it and consider buying one for the family.
Insurance again as the audience is 37, similar to the car, they will need to advertise things important in a home-owners life so home insurance, car insurance etc will be important to advertise.
Alcohol and cigarettes many people between the age of 30 and 40 will drink and smoke so money can be made from advertising alcoholic drinks and cigarettes, or even quitting packs for stopping smoking. This will be the age where people are reaching "mid life" and want to consider becoming healthier. On the other hand they may want to treat themselves and buy alcohol.
Fashion people may be interested in buying clothes similar to what they used to wear, or similar to bands in the magazine. They may just want some new clothes or something different.
Concert tickets to advertise bands or artists in or similar to ones in the magazine. This will appeal to people who have an interest in the bands or music.
Instruments for people with an interest in learning or trying to perform songs or music from the genre of their choice. This will again appeal to people with a select interest of people within the magazine.
Music systems/speakers for playing music, will appeal to people who like music and listening to it so they can listen to songs of their choice. This will appeal to any reader, but may be a first time buy for some people due to the target audience.
