Readership profiles 2

Kerrang! is targeted at the 49.8% of the ABC1 group. The average age range for the magazine is age 15-24, with most readers at the age of 22 years old. The magazine targets 22 year old's and 41% of the readers are female, and 59% of the readers are male. This is fairly even, although the target audience of males is higher than females, but not by much. This means that products advertised will appeal to both genders as the companies want to advertise and sell as many products as they can to the magazines audience, so products that are unisex will be advertised, as well as products advertised for males separated from females.

Kerrang! fits with its target audience of 15-24 as this is the age where people get into music and start to have a strong interest in it. Also between the ages of 16 and above, people may go to concerts and festivals so will read about them in a magazine such as Kerrang! The target audience may be into an 'emo' or 'Gothic' type of fashion so the style of the magazine fits with the band and the appearance of some of the readers.

Products advertised in Kerrang! could be:
Festival tickets as the magazine is known for being a music magazine, and the audience will all have an interest in music, so selling festival tickets and tickets to concerts will draw in money to raise money and interest for bands.
Pre-concert alcohol cheap alcohol as the audience can know what alcohol to take to a concert or a festival. Advertising cheap alcohol will interest the audience as they will need suggestions on what to buy. This can appeal to males and females.
Festival clothes so that people who intend to go to a concert or a festival can wear trendy but appropriate clothing. This may appeal to a younger audience as they care more about what they look like than adults. This can appeal to both genders but more likely to appeal to females.
Camping equipment for camping at a festival, this may include things like sleeping bags, tents, cooking utensils, and bags. This is vital again for people who plan to go to events such as festivals and need equipment for camping out, this will appeal to everybody who visits festivals.
Instruments - People who read the magazine may have an interest in bands or music, but also have an interest in performing or playing an instrument for example, a guitar, or drums, bass, or even singing. The magazine could advertise lessons or even buying the instrument to appeal to an audience, this could appeal to anybody of any age, or gender so would be good to advertise.
Merchandise from bands or acts that feature in the concerts or in the magazine. This would have a wider appeal as anybody who likes particular bands will purchase the merchandise, especially if its collectable, or if it's something new for example a poster, or an autograph.
CDs/Downloads/Software again this will appeal to anybody who has an interest in music or in a particular band or artist. Advertising downloads or CDs will increase the download amount of a song or an album, and also will help fund the magazine and help the artist too. This appeals to anybody who likes a certain artist.
Headphones/earphone for people who enjoy listening to music on an MP3 player or mobile device, this will mainly appeal to a younger audience as they are more familiar with modern technology and will use their phones and devices more than older people. This will still appeal to people within the target range.
MP3 Players/devices This will again appeal to people who are within the target audience range as they're familiar with technology. Young people with an interest in music will be likely to listen to music on an MP3 device, along with most teenagers and young adults who own a mobile phone.
Energy Drinks sponsors for the magazine, aimed at young people, preferably sporty people or people who drink energy drinks. This isn't to do with concerts or festivals but still can be aimed at a wide range of people.
